It's been a while since I posted.
Things have changed a lot here. Emily Malka entered this world on 4/22, at 22:02 weighing 5lbs 14oz, and 19 1/2 inches long. I can't believe I had such a teeny little baby. Nathan was 7lbs 12oz. That's a difference of almost 2 lbs!!! My dr was shocked at how small she was.
I am not so surprised. I only gained 12lbs this pregnancy, and all through out they kept monitoring Emily's growth through sonograms because she was always measuring very small. They always scared me by saying there could be something wrong but it never really worried me because I just knew everything was ok.
My Labor and delivery was SUPER easy, 3 hours from start to finish! It was the complete polar opposite experience then I had with Nathan. With Nathan I had a 16 hour labor, with 4 hours of pushing, an epidural that never worked right, and the worst pain in my life. I literally thought I was going to die with Nathan. He ended up being vacuum. This time, my labor progressed super quick, I pushed for maybe 30 seconds and Emily was born. I had an epidural that worked and gave me tremendous relief. This is what childbirth should be like for all woman!
Now we are settling in, I'm trying to get used to being a mommy of 2 under 2. It is NOT easy. The first 2 weeks I cried everyday. I really thought I can't do this. I am now getting used to functioning on no sleep, and just trying to not be too hard on myself.
Nathan was reallg ood in the beginning but now he is becoming SUPER sensitive. If anyone tells him no other then me or Oded he bursts out crying. He has also started hitting (no idea where he picked it up from). We are working on it.
Oded has been working super hard in school and I feel like I never seem him anymore. I can't wait for him to be done!
On another note I think Nathan has been missing Mommy time, so I took him out today, just me and him. I took him for new shoes, poor kid grew 2 sizes and I didn't know!! I took him in 2 months ago, and she told me he had plenty of room, come back at the end of April, beginning of May.... so it's a little past the beginning, but 2 whole sizes? No wonder he hated putting on his shoes! Guess I don't win Mommy of the year award. Then we went to Dunkin donuts/Baskin Robbins for Ice cream. We had a great time and now it's time for me to go put him to bed....
Ta Ta for now....
My Life as a Zookeeper of 2 very smart, curious, and extremely mischievous monkeys/toddlers.

Not so good at this!
So apparently I'm not so good at this blogging thing. It's been 11 days since I posted anything. This is going to be long!
Things have been really hectic for me.
First things first is I have been having an issue with my pelvis due to this pregnancy that only delivery will cure. For about 3 weeks now I have had A LOT of pain by my pubic bone. I fell down a few steps (one leg went one way and the other leg the other way which made it worse). I have a separation in my pubic symphasis (that is more so then normal). Normal in pregnancy is 3-4mm and mine is 7-8mm. This causes me to have clicking in my pelvis, pain when walking, and just general discomfort. Right after birth I will need to have x-rays, and see an orthopedist immediately (before I leave the hospital) to make sure there has been no dislocation of my pelvis during childbirth. My Dr. is considering a c-section to spare my pelvis the trauma. Besides I don't know if I can go through the pain of having my legs in the position necessary for birth. The best position right now to keep me pain free is legs together. Definitely not conducive to birthing. The other minor thing is that baby girl is transverse, so I may need a c-section regardless of what is going on with my pelvis. After birth if my pelvis does not go back to normal, I will need to be fitted for a pelvic brace.... I PRAY this is not the case.
Nathan is teething like crazy, the canine that was taking forever FINALLY came through after giving him hell for over 2 months, so he now has 5 teeth. His bottom molars seem to be giving him pain lately. They are coming through hopefully soon. His gums are swollen, and white, and bulging, and I wish I could take the pain away from him, but there is not much I can do. Cold meals seem to be his preference since it soothes his gums, and I give him ice pops to help too. I have tried the Highlands all natural teething tablets, but they do NOTHING! I have also tried oragel but he does not like it at all! I don't think he likes the sensation of the numbing agent.
On another note, I have been trying really hard to get Nathan on a schedule. Till now I just fed him when I thought he was hungry, put him for a nap when I thought he was sleepy and followed his cues. However I don't think I was doing a very good job at it because it always seemed like I was too late. He would be crying for his lunch as I made it, overtired by the time I was putting him for a nap and crying for a long time before falling asleep, and bedtime was anywhere between 7-11pm, and it just made for a very irritable baby. He was taking two 45 minute naps a day (one at 11am and one at 3pm) and waking up very cranky after both.
I am now proud to say that after 2 weeks of a being really rigid with his schedule he seems to be SOOOO much happier. He is having one 2 hour nap every day and waking up happy. He is getting so well adjusted to his schedule that he already knows when snack time is (I realized if I give him a snack before his nap he sleeps MUCH longer). When he is done his snack and I take him out of the high chair he heads up stairs to his room, since he knows it's nap time. Nap time is no longer a 2 hour battle to get him to sleep. I hold him off a little longer then before (naptime is now 12-2) and he lays down and is asleep in a few minutes. I really now see it now that kids do MUCH better when they know what's coming next. Bedtime is now narrowed down to 7-8. No more late nights. He is also going to sleep a lot easier since I instituted a good pre-bedtime routine. It TRULY helps prepare him for sleep. He knows that after dinner is bedtime and he heads upstairs to the bathroom for his bath without me having to take him up crying. He is now a much happier kid during the day which makes for a happier Mommy.
I realized I needed to do this before the baby comes. He needed some stability in his day. It has also made it so much easier for me to get things done because I know I can count on a good nap. I can now prepare dinner MUCH earlier then I had been because I know he will sleep long enough for me to do it. I know I have x amount of time in the morning and x amount of time in the mid day to go out and run errands.
Overall, my hard work has paid off, and things have gotten a lot easier for me.
I have also scaled back a lot on the amount of facebook games I play, and the amount of time I spend on my computer during the day. As a result my house looks A LOT better. My laundry actually got all done on laundry day (I do laundry every week on Wednesday). Till now I was washing it all on Wednesday, and it was sitting for at least a week unfolded, and then I wouldn't want to do more laundry because it was more to fold.
In short I have definitely learned to use my time wisely! I miss being on my computer so much, but I know it's better for me and my family's happiness.
Another big decision is we have decided to get rid of the cable. We will keep our internet, and basic TV, but we will no longer have the Family package. It will save us lots of money that we really need right now. We have also decided to get rid of the cable box in our bedroom. We both feel it will give us the opportunity to do other things at night (get your mind out of the gutter), like read a book. I have so many books I bought to read and they sit and collect dust. We will keep the DVD player so we can watch a movie occasionally, but we realized we watch WAY too much TV and it really gets in the way of any family time, and any cuddling time, and any romantic time.
So that's it for now.
Oh one more thing! Using swagbucks.com I earned $30 in Amazon.com gift cards!!! I bought Nathan's toddler bed on sale from $89.99 to $51.99, minus the $30 and I paid $21.99 for his bed!!! I am so proud of myself!
All in all I have been busy with good things. We are now at 35 days till our baby girl arrives and we can't wait!

Is this a preview?
Nathan has been waking up at night for almost a week now. He has slept 12 hours a night since he was 4 months old. We have never had him wake up at night since then. Is he preparing for what's coming with a new baby? Are my nights of solid sleep over? I was hoping to have 2 more months of sleep before having to get back into waking up for a crying baby, night feedings and all that jazz.I don't know what's wrong. I am pretty sure it's teething, but how many nights in a row can I give the kid Motrin? The Motrin doesn't even seem to do much, because he wakes up a few hours later crying when the Motrin should still have him covered. My battle is I never know if I should sit and fight with him for 2-3 hours to try and get him to go back to sleep in his crib? Or should I just go lay with him in my guest room. He would most likely fall back asleep, and then I don't have to be up for 3 hours in middle of the night. I wouldn't bring him to my bed, because I don't think it's fair for Oded to loose sleep. No point is us both being super exhausted.
To add to all the chaos and stress of him not sleeping well, I am suffering from something called PGP (Pelvic girdle pain) you can read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelvic_girdle_pain. It is REALLY painful and as a result I really don't sleep as it is. I barely leave the house, because going down the 3 flights of steps carrying Nathan exacerbates it tremendously. I feel bad that the weather was so nice the past few days and he hasn't gotten out. I am dying to take him to the park, but I can't chase after him at the park. I had this when I was pregnant with Nathan but this time it is much much worse. I can't wait to get through these last 5 weeks. I am going to be an exhausted mess till this baby come, and after this baby comes, but at least once she comes I won't be in pain anymore.

Teething Sucks!!
Last night I finally decided I would go to bed early...... And at 11:10 Nathan woke up screaming. Long story short his canine is coming through and it kept him up till 2am. I gave him Motrin, but it didn't help. I felt so bad for him but there was nothing I could do. My dr. has told me not to use oragel at night because it can be dangerous if it numbs his throat, he can choke oh his saliva in his sleep.
So the question is, when he wakes up, I rock in the rocking chair with him, but it's getting REALLY uncomfortable for me because he puts a lot of pressure on my belly. Oded is REALLY against me bringing him to our bed. I could go lay with him on the couch, but his toys are in the living room, and I am afraid he will think it's pay time. What do I do? I want to bring him to the bed but Oded thinks he will get the idea that if he wakes up crying he can come to our bed. He never co-slept so I don't think he will think it's ok every night.
Any suggestions?
Despite Nathan not sleeping well, we had a good day. He ate well, played nicely, but was a nightmare in the supermarket. He grabbed a tomato and took a huge bite out of it! lol! I am trying to teach him to keep his hands to himself but he doesn't get it. He wants to touch everything on the shelves, and everyone that passes. He grabbed a kids kipah (skullcap) off as the kid walked by.. lol! He also yells and screma for more at EVERYTHING! I might have to start grocery shopping when Oded is home to watch him.
Well that's all for my day.... it's 12:20am and Nathan has not woken up since he went to sleep so here's hoping to a full night without any disturbance.... Good night all!

Why Peanuts, Monkeys, and Zookeepers you ask?
So I realize I should give some insight about why I've named my blog Peanuts, Monkeys, and Zookeepers.
I call Nathan my Monkey, our little girl our peanut, and well most days we feel like zookeepers chasing around our little monkey :)
I call Nathan my Monkey, our little girl our peanut, and well most days we feel like zookeepers chasing around our little monkey :)
Welcome!
So today I venture into the world of blogging.
A little about me. I am 28 years old, and a SAHM (stay at home mom) to my beautiful, smart, curious, and mischievous son Nathan who is 14 months old. I am 32 weeks pregnant with a baby girl due to show her face around April 24th. I married the best man in the world, Oded, on November 12th 2007, and it's been a great journey since. Not the smoothest one without bumps in the road, but hey, every journey has it's ups and downs. He has come a long way, and is so amazing in helping me at home with cooking, cleaning, and taking care of Nathan. He is great with Nathan and if I didn't exist Nathan would be completely content with just having his Aba (hebrew for daddy) around. Some men have this notion that cooking and cleaning, and all housekeeping duties are the woman's responsibility, but not my husband. I am so thankful he loves to cook, and does it more often then I like to admit. He is my rock, and my support, and without him I can't imagine how my life would be.
I am number 9 of 11 children. I have 4 olders brothers, 4 older sisters, and 2 younger sisters. Growing up in a large family has it's positives and negative, but I wouldn't trade my family for the world. I didn't have the best upbringing, and it was definitely anything but peachy, but through years of personal growth and emotional exploration I have learned that NO ONE has a perfect life, and we can take it all in and learn from it. I spent so many years being angry with my parents for what I had to endure as a child, and for what they put me through, but a few years ago I had an epiphany. They are only human. They did not have great examples in the least bit of what parenthood should be and they did the best they could. That's not an excuse for their actions, but it helped me put everything in the past. I also came to the realization that I could spend the rest of my life being angry about it all, or I could let it go. That began my path to healing and forgiveness, and I can truly say I now have a better relationship with my parents then I EVER did in my entire life, and I truly love it.
My family is mixed with Orthodox, Modern Orthodox, Not Orthodox, and in betweeners. I fall in the in between label. We are not the most religious but we keep Kosher strictly, and we don't drive on Shabbos (the Sabbath). Till now we were undecided if our children would go to public schools or private school. I was all for public school, but Oded was adamant about private school. I have a very deep passion for Jewish holidays, and I had a realization recently that if I want my children to share that passion, it has to come not only from me, but from their education as well, so we have made the decision that our children will DEFINITELY be going to Yeshiva (private Jewish school).
I created this blog just to have an outlet for my thoughts, worries, and everything in between. For me this is my place to get everything swirling around in my head out.
I hope you enjoy following me on my journey....
